The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in its March 2022 Barometer, found that Montenegro with +249% have the highest growth in international tourist arrivals between 2020 and 2021. Even if 2021 was still in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, and many countries didn’t allow their citizens and residents to travel normally, Montenegro saw a huge crowd in the summer, both on the coastal cities and resorts and in the mountainous northern part of the country.
This spring saw the visit of the American Vogue editor in charge of Europe’s “Art de Vivre” in its extremely broader sense, and without much of a surprise… He fell in love with Montenegro.
The increase in tourist arrivals means also that new markets are interested in Montenegro, and that goes with an increase of new flight connections bringing a more diverse range of visitors in the country.
The Saudi airline Flynas is launching flights to Podgorica and Tivat, joining companies that recently started flying to Montenegro, like: Air Astana (Kazakhstan), Luxair (Luxemburg), SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) or other ones successfully present for a long time like Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa or FlyDubai.
