Like in many countries, this past year saw a sharp increase in savings and money not spent by consumers, as Covid-19 disrupted the economy.

The Central Bank announced an increase of almost 600 million euros in deposits since the beginning of the year, reaching almost 4 billion euros, an historic high for the Montenegrin banking sector.

The liquidity at 1.5 billion euros is also at an historic high, prompting the renewed satisfaction of the Governor of the Central Bank.

The other interesting point is the increase of the non-resident deposits, from 768 million euros in July 2020 to 998 million euros in July 2021, showing the confidence of foreigners in sending and keeping a part of their assets in Montenegro.
