BEXIMCO, Bangladesh largest conglomerate, will buy 54.6% of Sanofi Bangladesh with the remaining 45.4% owned by the Bangladesh government.

BEXIMCO Pharma, who started in 1980 manufacturing under the licenses of Bayer and Upjohn, produce today its own branded medicines for AIDS, cancer, asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. It was the first Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company to be allowed to sell its products in the US.

In May 2020, BEXIMCO Pharma introduced world’s first generic of “Remdesivir” for Covid-19 treatment in its 81,000 m2 factory.

With this acquisition, BEXIMCO Pharma will strengthen its position in diabetes, cardiology, oncology, and central nervous system therapeutic areas.
