The USD 230 million project will increase the capacity of the airport and allow more visitors and bigger planes to land in Cox’s Bazar.

From 9,000 feet (2,743m) today, the 1,700 feet extension (from which 1,300 are on the water) will bring with close to 12,000 feet a capacity allowing comfortably the new Boeing 787 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to operate in Cox’s Bazar airport.

The resort town with one of the biggest natural sand beaches in the world (150 km) is attracting more and more visitors. The runway extension inspired by Hong Kong airport was the only feasible option.
